Sharing is caring!

These days, it seems like there are SO many people blogging! But why do they do it? Read on to see why I decided to become a blogger!

Have you ever wondered why people start blogs? Maybe you’re thinking of starting one yourself, but you’re just not sure… I mean, do people actually make money with blogs? How hard is it to do?

Personally, there were many reasons why I wanted to become a blogger. It’s actually been a dream of mine for several years, but I was pretty terrified about actually taking the “leap” and just doing it. As much as I love writing, I have never been a “techy” person and I was worried about all the technical sides of blogging.

And then there was the self-doubt – that nagging feeling that I would never be good enough or committed enough to make it work or stick with it. There were days that I would find myself contemplating just giving up. After all, giving up wouldn’t involve any risk!

Blogging Can Be Hard – But It Is SO Worth It!

Let’s face it, starting a blog is risky and it takes a lot of hard work. There is no magic formula or special trick to get you instant success. It just doesn’t work that way.

This may cause you to wonder why so many people are starting blogs of their very own. Well, there are actually many reasons why blogging is becoming so popular – but first, let’s remember something very important:

“Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

Meaning, if it really matters it’s going take work – time and energy – on your part.

And I’m going to be completely, 100% honest with you: Blogging IS totally worth it AND it takes hard work.

There will be days when that voice in your head will try to tell you to give up – tell you that you’re not good enough. DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT VOICE!! You know why? Because that voice is a bully and it’s lying to you.

Because even when blogging gets hard (and it can get hard), there is ALWAYS a solution! Take a break, shut down your computer, take a walk, read a book – do something that relaxes you – and then come back to it. Oftentimes, it has nothing to do with our abilities or shortcomings – sometimes we just need to take a step back and gain some fresh perspective.

At the end of the day, you have a unique story that only YOU can tell. So try to shut out the self-doubt and worry, and go tell it!

What Led Me to Start Blogging?

I have SO many reasons for starting this blog – and the more I do it, the more I love it! It’s honestly become a dream of mine to really make this work because I know that it is possible!

However, I didn’t always know that this was my dream. When I was younger, my “big dream” constantly fluctuated between becoming a best-selling author and having my own craft/crochet store. I had no idea how to make either one a reality – or how to start working towards them.

But I kept writing and crocheting (and dabbling with other crafts) and my love for DIY continued to grow. I started to cook and bake more as well and soon realized that I had a real passion for creating delicious food!

I even began to wonder whether the pursuit of a culinary degree was more my style…

No matter what, I always realized that I had a LOT of interests and a HUGE desire to help other people on their projects. But how could I continue to further myself in all of them and still pursue my dreams? Was such a feat even possible?

And that’s when I heard about blogging…

The Freedom of Blogging

At first, I didn’t really get blogging. I mean, was it on an online journal? Or was it a business? Turns out a blog is basically a little bit of both.

The more I researched it, the more I realized just how well a blog could encompass all of my DIY interests. Writing, crocheting, cooking, baking, etc. I could continue working on all of them and manage to do something I had always wanted to do – share my adventures with others and help people with their own DIY projects!

Becoming a blogger can give you a huge amount of freedom. Here are some of the reasons why blogging is so great:

  • Blogging can encompass whatever your passions are
  • Successful bloggers are their own bosses – meaning they control when and where they work!
  • A blog can be the perfect platform to build an audience and sell your own products
  • Blogging is a job you can literally do from anywhere – which is why so many bloggers are able to travel the world!
  • The blogging world is continually growing and advancing and there are SO many resources and courses to help you through all the difficult parts!

If we’re being honest, I think everyone loves the idea of being their own boss and not having to work for someone else. Which is probably why the appeal of blogging only continues to grow.

I mean, who wouldn’t love to travel the world with their laptop and write about their passions as they see the money come pouring steadily in… I know I certainly would!

But in order to make any dream a reality, you need to put in the time and the work – and the money – to make it happen. It takes dedication and determination, and a whole lot of mistakes (at least in my case).

Just How Hard Is It to Become A Blogger?

Blogging is hard – but it’s totally do-able! Believe me when I say that if I can do it, YOU can do it!

There is a learning curve (especially when you’re a non-techy person, like me) and it takes work. But there are SO many resources and courses out there to help you through the difficult parts. Some of them will literally walk you through the whole set-up process as well –which is such a life-saver!

As with anything, there will be times when you will need to evaluate what is worth more to you – your time and energy, or your money?  You can either search amidst the vast amount of free (albeit scattered, confusing, and hard to find) information that exists online or you can pay for courses/resources that will guide you through it without the guesswork.

Personally, I like to invest in good quality courses when I can – as these are created by people who HAD to struggle through the blogging world for years and came up with systems and detailed guides to get others through it without the headache.

There is obviously going to still be some work involved, but it is so much easier when you have someone else guiding you along the way. Plus, most of these guides utilize their greatest asset of all: support groups. I cannot stress enough how vital these support groups can be!

In fact, I think one of the hardest things about becoming a blogger is that feeling of aloneness. You probably won’t have many friends (or any) who truly understand what you’re going through with your blog – they might not even understand why you’re even trying.

And let’s be honest here… We tend to doubt ourselves more when it’s not something that our close friends and family understand, don’t we?

That is why support groups are SO AMAZING! They help keep you inspired as you see all these bloggers growing and becoming successful. Plus, they’re there to answer any blog-related questions you could ever need to ask! They know what you’re going through because they’ve been there too

Honestly, I don’t think I would have made it this far without a support group. Because we all need someone who understands what we’re going through when we feel like giving up.

Summary

Blogging can be hard – and it takes work – but it’s totally worth it!

It can give you the freedom to

  • Travel the world
  • Be your own boss

If you think that you might want to become a blogger, then I HIGHLY suggest that you invest in a good quality blogging course. It will make the path to becoming a blogger so much less stressful! Plus, it should come with a support group to help keep you on track with your goals/dreams.
